Does it save the game ? I played the downloaded version and i lost all progress

it should save, the file should be in "AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Feed the Void". There are also backups there

doesn't work currently, the game doesn't create any save in the path you've given

I really like this game, so far I've only beaten it once while challenging myself to not prestige or buy any more cards, so now I shall prestige and try to 100%

Also had most played card as spirit and a total of 900 cards played.

Awesome game, as usual!

I do have some feedback to give, though, regarding the druid.

I find myself not playing him very often, especially after buying and upgrading other cards. The fact that he costs 2 means that I rarely have enough energy to play the druid after more than 2 cards, which makes the payoff of his rune a bit underwhelming.

I think the druid would benefit from having his cost reduced to 1.

Have you tried doing a run that prioritizes playing the Druid as often as possible (especially after playing the Mirror)? Mirror followed by Roots Druid used to be one of the best synergies in the game.

Yes I did, I just don't use it very often because it's simply not the best option most of the time.

Sounds like the nerf worked but might have been a bit too much.

So glad  I came across this. Very excited to see where this goes.

I like it, but I want more choices. Upgrades feel inevitable, so the combo just happens automatically, right?

When I have 11 cards it's possible to remove them below the limit. With this abuse I've created a combo and got 92k on the last stage.

This game is very fun

those are some crazy numbers gotta fix that lol

I'm enjoying this update! Broodmother and Carpet Construct have some really fun (and kinda surprising) synergies.

That said, a few thoughts:

  1.  I feel like granting light and upgrading could maybe use some kind of extra indicator to make it clear what runes count for what? I definitely had to  check that sticking a Salvage rune on a Carpet Construct worked the way I thought it did, and it took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to realize that the Mirror's Heavy Reflection triggered Meal.
  2. I think clicking on a card should dismiss the tooltip you get for hovering over it - currently, you end up with multiple text boxes on top of each-other and it looks a bit messy.
  3. The current card upgrade system ends up feeling kinda dull once you've bought all of the runes your deck needs, because "pay 3x to upgrade the rune again" is pretty mindless. I wonder if it'd be better if upgrading your cards with void tokens had a low-ish cap and you had to rely on prestige upgrades to get the power you need?
  4. I could also see individual cards getting prestige upgrades - maybe, I dunno, the Mage's energy cost reduction is something that costs Singularities instead of Embryos.

Thanks for the feedback. So for 1, it was unclear exactly how those runes worked?

Not so much that it was unclear how they worked and more that I wasn't sure how they interacted with other runes because both Weave and Meal used unique terms.

Weave says that it interacts with runes that "directly create" light, but the runes that trigger it either "grant" light (Final Spark, Herd, Dawning, First Charge) or say that you "gain" light (Growth, Salvage, Dredge). Similarly, Meal triggers when a rune "upgrades" the Broodmother, but all of the runes that upgrade other cards say "increases light gain by [amount] for [card]" - I thought for a second that the Candle's energy cost reduction might count (because reducing the cost is an upgrade) but nope.

I think it'd really help clarity if all of the runes that "directly create" light were changed to say create instead of grant/gain and Meal was changed to something like "adds a temporary spider card when a rune increases this card's light gain" or something to that effect.

Appreciate the reply! I'll see what I can do to make things more consistent.

nooo my wanderer cheese :wailing:

(no but that makes so much sense to have changed it was so op)

Interesting game

This is genuinely a great game. I played for a long time and left, but it pulled me back multiple more times throughout the week. Super fun!

I absolutely loved this. I just played for three hours straight when I was just supposed to be taking a break! The music, the vibes, and unique theme -- it's exactly what I've been wanting from a deckbuilder, but hadn't been able to find. Thank you for making this and putting it out. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

really incredible game, much, much more than just a little project and has an incredibly well paced progression system. I would highly reccomend and can't wait to see where it goes.

I think this is a fantastic foundation for what could be a super fun game! Just need more cards and challenges really, maybe a mechanic to buy packs of cards instead of individual cards or something, I don't know. This is great

Bug report: Clicking on the draw pile does not accurately show what cards are in the draw pile.

Thanks, should be fixed

I didn't even know that was a thing

Glass trident + chalice + hourglass. GG on all kinds of runs

softlock in the first ~20 sec

Thanks, I'll look into it

thanks

I came here from steam looking for more games by you and, while still a bit rough, seems like a great one.

I know it's just a demo, but it seems the loop is a bit too tight. 5 hands from a deck of 10 isn't much, IMHO I would suggest doubling everything, number of cards, number of copies, number of hands, amount of points to get, everything except hand size I guess. That would give you design space for better cards, while also letting you make removing cards cheaper, Void Tokens instead of Embryos (or keep it with Embryos but 2 per level then have removing only cost 1).

Next, I liked playing with the red cards, but was at the final void by the time I had my deck set. Let use prestige into a red theme deck. That way you can start us off with bad red cards instead of making us go all in on them in order to build that deck. That will leave the design space open for even more decks, I envision a green deck that lets you draw on the cheap with energy management being the constraint, maybe move the druid into that.

Or tell me to eff off, you have made some great games that I really enjoy, you're the genius here, not me :)

Thanks for the feedback. It is always helpful to read, often catches stuff I never thought of

This is actually a great game. a lot of what i have to say has already been said but what i haven't seen pointed out is how good a demo this is. i cant really break down how exactly this is but you've given the player access to enough stuff and mechanics that not only keeps them engaged, shows them how the game is gonna be played in the future, but Also keep them in the game and playing. that is a hard thing to nail in a demo, kudos to you!

on the gameplay side of things, i did bump into the balance issues that Alex_x90 pointed out, being that some cards and play-styles are just straight up better that others.

in my experience, the shop the player really has to purchase two cards; one being the candle and the other the wanderer. the abilities of the other cards don't really scale up to them at all.

this is very much an issue that is particular to a demo, adding more content and changing the way the player purchases cards will actually solve this issue. I've thought about this for a bit and imo until you have a good amount of cards for the player to mess around with and just more ways to generate massive amounts of light in general, i think this approach you have rn is fine. but in the future demos, when you've added more content in the game, changing the way card purchases are made can resolve this (you can also look into some games like path of achra or Crawl or just slay the spire as just some examples that come into mind).

overall. a very good game and demo. i very much anticipate a full release and more content. good luck on your development journey <3

There's definitely some imbalance in the game, but it's very fun. What I'd come up with:

  • Mirror with retain transient rune
  • Getting the add runes and doing druid with root + amass transient rune
  • Trident + compass rose + glass chalice relics

Very momentum-y, use the slow turns to find mirror and get some extra energy next turn with trident, then line up compass rose with mirror/druid and deal some crazy damage. Got all this in I think 3 or 4 prestiges, dealt like 3k damage in 1 turn on Ebony Void when it all aligned.

i like this game.  but i lose my progress when i leave or refresh the page

What browser are you on?

(+1)

This is definitely a game I would Wishlist on steam, my only "complaint" is that some builds can definitely punch wayyy above the weight class you get them (Particularly the 1.5x and 2x relics combined with runed druid got me some insane amounts of light each time I drew druid)

(+1)

I love this concept a lot, I really hope you develop it further!

I have 100%d the game. upgraded everything to max bought every card and prestige

(+1)

I really enjoyed playing this.  One option to increase replayability would be to give players one less card--chosen at random--and one embryo.  That way, players could either choose to buy a card OR upgrade one of the cards they have, right from the start.

This is genuinely amazing, it starts out kinda feeling like you don't really have much in the way of choices, but that's proven wrong quickly after.

(1 edit)

This is great! It feels good to work out card synergies and personal strategies. I will say the red cards seemed like too harsh trade-offs / not immediately attractive for me to be comfortable using them, though.

I also noticed a bug: You can drag transient runes to the top card in the discard pile, but when they're drawn again they won't have the transient rune.

(1 edit)

amazing idea, you no doubt should finish the game. I have passed all trials, unlocked all cards. But one thing — don't animate portals. Even me, without a vestibular apparatus problems, the game gives me motion sickness

Gotcha, I'll look into adding an option for that

Incredible take on the de ck building genre.  Played it until the end in one sitting. Thanks for the experience!

Truly fantastic game design. The cards feel really balanced, and tight combinations of their perks lead to multiple satisfying strategies. Almost every card that I didn't like the look of at first had some value when built in certain decks. Pacing felt good, and overall length was ideal for an online game.

Red cards felt a little underwhelming, but still gave dividends when developed properly. I personally would have liked the broodmother to drop multiple spiders when upgraded rather than the 1, or the upgrades to give a touch more value.

Overall one of the best games I've played online in a while (and I made an account just to say so!)

(+1)

One upgrade for the brood mother would be to place the first of multiple spiders in the hand and the others in the discard pile, so that they will show up in later hands.

Another upgrade would be to add +2/+4/etc. to spiders every time they show up in the hand but are discarded.  (i.e. They are 'growing'.)

Amazing game, had me hooked through the entire thing. I agree with everyone saying you should work towards a full release. This game has incredible potential. Also, I loved the eerie, mysterious fantasy vibe, it truly sets the game apart from anything else on this site. Much love!

Very fun game. I love everything about it. My only feedback is that the Golden Clock feels like a cheat code.

Yeah, golden clock was one of the more experimental ones, might have to change it a bit.

very cool game!!! im excited to see what it'll become :)

I do wish that center spiral would spin though - not just during the transition moment of putting the game into full screen or back out of full screen.

it does for me! how strange

Oh...so staring into a frozen void wasn't the intended experience? Man, i don't even know what to feel anymore, haha.

Lol, sorry that is weird, I will look into it, I assume this is still edge?

you know it

Just switched to chrome, still seeing it frozen

If you can get into the chrome dev tools console, are there any error showing up?

Awesome, played this until mastery - ie, until i could first run beat every single trial.

Then just for kicks maxed out all the prestige items. Great game. Lovingly made.

Awesome game, but some key functionality hasn't been implemented yet such as card hand rearrangement and deck management, and in certain ways I feel the order of what occurs needs a  little tweaking, such as the salvage effect occurring after the relic that doubles a turn's profit or the ability profit multiplier not affecting shimmer's ability. Regardless, I understand this is an early access and appreciate what is here to play!

(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the game!

New update seems to have fixed game saves for me, thanks!
I'm a tad confused though, since I don't use Chrome. I'm on an independant fork of Firefox.

I really like this. Would gladly pay for it on Steam.

Oh no, not bob with amazing incremental game, that exploding charts is 3 days after release, not again

This was fantastic, thank you! Looking forward to the full game. I capitalised hard on forge with the relic, druid also great esp. early, final piece of my puzzle was shimmer+sun. Herd was nice extra once I had the real keystones. I wish there was an upgrade (prestige or relic?) to shred a card, that damn starter 3.

Endgame I only bought Wanderer. I didn't check all the runes on the red cards but they didn't seem to help enough with the key "play more cards" synergy. Maybe Brood Spider could be more like "When discarded, adds a temporary Spider to your next hand"?

A little gameplay, a little critique ;)
